Well, I thought I was outa here, but I can't resist adding my opinion after that post! If you think that's bad, check this out: http://www.clambake.org/cb-faq.html#comm
Not one Scientologist is able to write a letter which describes what his religion is actually about. Why? Because these people have been BRAINWASHED. Anyone who's been brainwashed has lost the ability to think reasonably. Just because someone is a famous actor or musician, it doesn't mean they're playing with a full deck.

Don't be angry at these people - they're just folks who, due to a troubled period in their lives or just being weak minded in general, fell for one of the oldest scams in the book, the "bait and switch" con. It's the most effective con there is, and that's why it's so widely used by corrupt salesmen, politicians, and every other person who practices fraud. On the good side, Scientology has pulled some people out of a lifetime of drug or alcohol abuse, so any religion is better than that. On the bad side, it's ruined many innocent lives.

If you're curious about it, don't just read the headlines like "Tom Cruise vs. South Park", but go to places like http://www.clambake.org/ where the abuses by Scientology have been well documented, and this evil cult has been exposed through careful investigation and interviews with ex-Scientologists who were way up on the food chain.

One last question: why didnīt Dave Weckl have any third degree treatment from Chick for bringing up the carnal delights of Scott amidst somewhat religious conversation? Never mind, I love all this music these aforementioned gentlemen have gave to my ears, it really is the greatest thing you can do with your clothes on.

i hope this post is not deleted. Whatever happened to freedom of speech? Or do we just print the stuff we happen to agree with? (now that sounds like a dictatorship)

I happen to agree with Scott and his views and think religion is fair game to be criticised. Why shouldn't it? everything else is. In the UK we do not tend to have many fundamentalists as a lot of religious people are very tolerant/kind and see a lot of the bible as metaphor anyway.

Scott is a pretty outspoken kind of guy and is spouting off at those hijackers of religion into capitalism and dictatorships. We ain't talking sunday school coffee mornings here.

Sorry but Hitler and his cronies invented a whole fake mythology based around nazism with massive religious overtones. Read your history books!

There are positive aspects to your average religion: like sense of community, goodwill, charity, sense of identity etc there is a flip side to all of this though.

Scott is really attacking the american taliban and other far right based extreme religious groups.

ok, i dont want to suggest you are a dumb fokker....ok maybe i do
1. Scott like a lot of the world find it absurd people follow a quasi-religion made up by a failed science fiction author that thinks our bodies are invaded by aliens called Thetans that come from volcanoes...but you seem on top of that one.

2. what the hell is the 'american taliban'

3. This board is the property of FG, therefore you are in HIS house and you should have the decency to respect that. Free speech comes with a responsibility to respect others. So he has every right to delete threads (or really stupid comments) that he sees that abuse that respect.

4. what the hell did Hitler have to do with anything that anyone said? Or did you you just feel the need to share some broad information derived from the Discovery channel to feel clever?

5. Scott made his point and it was quite simple.

Back to the music.

Have a nice day!

"Playing with Chick Corea is probably the most learning experience and musically gratifying experience that I have ever had - and possibly ever will have....it's just a great thing to know you are working with somebody who cares about your well being and music career on it's own - it's not just...he's not using you/me to better him...and you know...a lot of leaders are into that...just using their sidemen musician...and not really caring about what THEIR careers are doing or anything else..."

From a Dave Weckl interview on youtube...
