No offense intended, but a lot of people don't have to put much time into that kind of thing. If you don't have the strongest right hand, then you can just re-arrange your left hand fingerings to compensate if you're having to go for more of a legato approach. I honestly don't think SH thinks much about his right hand at all, nor does he need to. To think that he couldn't play some of those Chick Corea heads at tempo is absurd. 1. Scott H's removal from the CCEB had nothing to do with Scott's picking or musicianship. He is a phenomenal guitarist and could have been in the band forever if he had gotten along with Chick's lifestyle.

2. Scott was more into chicks than Chick. It's a lifestyle choice. With Chick, regardless of religious preference, was all about the music and not about the chicks. Having to wait in lobby's and be late while a certain band member rolled down with the evening's special friend wasn't the smartest way to keep any gig, not just Chick's gig.

3. Having known Scott well before he joined CCEB I know he always was a Weather Report and Joe Zawinul fan way ahead of Chick. He admired Chick Corea of course, but his heart was into WR and Zawinul.

As for me, I was into Chick's music since I was 13 years old... I was the right guy for the gig. Scott was certainly capable musically but not in his heart...

I was completely into Chick's music and musicianship, still am, will always be, and with Chick, I think it showed. With Scott it was like trying to fit a square peg in a round hole...it's a perfectly great square peg...if you get my meaning.

Also Chick wanted to put on a show. I was OK with that. Scott's set up at that time was stereo speakers that he wanted to place himself exactly between them and he also used a volume pot on the floor for expression...this meant he was reluctant to move from his position. Chick like to have the soloists take stage center while soloing.

Personally I don't think that's too much to ask. I was playing with Chick and the EB...in my head, it didn't get any better than that. I loved being there, that was the difference.

As for the religious aspect I was never coerced or indoctrinated. John and Eric are devout Christians, Dave and I are pretty skeptical of the whole organized religion thing...so, the wisest thing was to stay away from the subject, that goes with politics too...hahaha...just talk about music...that was the best angle to take.
